Implementation of Special Legalization Measures for Overseas Koreans
To provide an opportunity for Overseas Koreans with expired periods of stay to start anew, special legalization measures will be implemented from September 1, 2025 (Mon) to November 28, 2025 (Fri).
This legalization measure commemorates the 80th anniversary of Korea's liberation and aims to readjust the meaning of liberation from an immigration policy perspective. By re-embracing the Korean diaspora, it will serve as an opportunity for integration with the nation. Overseas Koreans and their families who wish to settle in their homeland with family and relatives but have been living unstable lives due to overstaying their permitted period of stay can regain legal Status of Stay through a review process during this special measure period.
